Set to hit screens in autumn, the show follows friendship pairs of 9 - 14-year-old wannabe designers (girls and boys) as they’re whisked away to face a series of creative catwalk challenges – and a panel of high profile celebrity judges.
Some of the biggest names in entertainment have teamed up to make Bratz Design Academy – the company behind “passion for fashion” Bratz dolls MGA Entertainment Inc, Initial, part of world-leading reality TV producer Endemol, and top kids’ broadcaster Nickelodeon.
Ron Brawer, President of MGA Entertainment, said: “Bratz Design Academy will be the biggest entertainment event for kids this season. We wanted to create a show which was original, empowering and interactive, and this totally represents what Bratz are all about – friendship, self expression and creativity for all girls, wherever they’re from.”
Bratz dolls were launched in 2001 when the founder of MGA Entertainment, Isaac Larian, wanted a more positive role model for his young daughter. The characters were created to reflect values important to 21st century kids like the importance of friendship, and the acceptance of people from different cultures and backgrounds, while the famous cartoon faces were carefully crafted to ensure no child could aspire to look like the doll.
