CBBC RETURNS TO PARADISE

CBBC has commissioned Initial, an Endemol company, to produce a second series of Paradise Café.

Set in the middle of the Cook Islands, the exciting comedy adventure series returns for more sizzling summer fun and spooky scares.

Living on an exotic South Pacific island, it started out as a blissful summer for a group of friends setting up a beachfront café in the sun.

However, things quickly took a turn for the worse when they discovered that sea ghosts were trying to sabotage their business and take over the island.

Having finally got rid of the sea ghosts, and finding out that Tai is in fact the mysterious ‘Sea Born’ hero at the end of the series one, the gang decide it’s time to settle down for a quiet summer. But trouble is just around the corner and it’s heading their way…

In the new series of Paradise Café, Tai attempts to make sense of his new superhero status while his best mate Robbo has to figure out how he feels about being the Sea Born’s trusted sidekick. What does all this Sea Born stuff mean to the rest of the gang? And how will Tai cope with his new found responsibilities?

Meanwhile, Megan has been working hard at the café but all it seems to have brought is trouble. Is it worth the hassle? Prompted by Chloe, she decides it’s time to cut loose, act her age and have some fun.

With the hotel struggling to stay open, it looks like Abi’s extended shopping days are finally over.
Can she cope with a serious credit crunch and learn to embrace low budget retro chic?

The island welcomes new arrival Natasha who’s determined to make an impact as Peter’s assistant. She may seem upfront, but what secrets is she hiding? And just when the gang seem to be on top of things, their plans for a chilled summer are dramatically compromised by the all too sudden reappearance of the sea ghosts.

However, it’s Natasha’s personal quest which is threatening the gang, café and the island itself.

Executive Producer Christopher Pilkington comments, “We're thrilled to be returning to Paradise as there are so many new stories to tell. Sun, sand and sea ghosts, it’s such a potent mix. Issues of friendship, loyalty, trust are brought even more into focus this series with the sudden arrival of the sea ghosts. If only the device to close the coral rift and block the escaping sea ghosts had worked. But who or what destroyed it?”

Steven Andrew, Head of CBBC In-House Production added “We’re delighted to welcome back another series of Paradise Cafe. Its blend of comedy and adventure set in the glorious sunshine promises to be a real treat for our audience.”

Paradise Café is a co production with the Gibson Group from New Zealand, who are working there with TVNZ and New Zealand On Air.

The Executive Producers are Christopher Pilkington at Initial and Connal Orton at the BBC. The series is produced by Dave Gibson and directed by Danny Mulheron.

This new series is also being sold internationally by Little Portman
