ZEPPOTRON MOVES INTO PRODUCING FOR BBC LEARNING

Zeppotron, an Endemol company, has been commissioned by BBC Learning to produce entertaining and educational video summaries from classic texts including; Romeo & Juliet, Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, Lord of the Flies and Macbeth.

The character, plot, and theme from each book will be summarised in 3 x 5 minute video summaries.

Aimed at GCSE and KS3 students, the videos will be engaging, humorous and educational. They will offer people powerful learning experiences in their own time and at their own pace.

Presented by Alex Zane, Katy Brand, June Sarpong and Russell Kane, the films will also contain dramatised scenes from the comedy troupe ‘The Idiots of Ants’.

Ex Blue Peter Presenter Konnie Huq will also read the themes from a selection of texts including ; A View from a Bridge, To Kill a Mocking Bird and An Inspector Calls.

Ben Caudell, Executive Producer at Zeppotron commented, “We’ve brought all of our comedy expertise to making these short films. Hopefully now, at last, Shakespeare will get the recognition he deserves..”

The video summaries will be broadcast on BBC Two as part of the BBC Learning Zone and will subsequently accompany the English literature section of the Bitesize website.

The commission was managed by Andrew Lees and Emma Till at the BBC. The Executive Producer is Ben Caudell and Series Producer is Sam Pinnell.
