Chief Executive Officer
As CEO Lucas leads Endemol UK and its production companies, Initial, Remarkable Television, Zeppotron, Darlow Smithson Productions (DSP), Tiger Aspect, and Tigress, which annually produce over 2,000 hours in genres including entertainment, drama, comedy, factual, features, documentaries and children's programming.
Lucas trained as a barrister and started his career in television in 1992 when he joined Initial as head of business affairs. When the company was bought by Broadcast Communications (now Endemol UK) Lucas became head of legal and business affairs for the entire UK Group and in 1996 he was also made Company Secretary.
In early 2000 he became Head of Commercial Affairs and was subsequently promoted to the Endemol UK board as Commercial Director in January 2002.
In January 2005 Lucas was appointed as Joint Managing Director of Endemol UK and went on to become Chief Operating Officer in January 2008.
He took up his current position as CEO in May 2012.
Managing Director of Remarkable Television and co chair of the Digital Board
David Flynn was appointed joint Managing Director of the newly created Remarkable Television in September 09, after taking over as Managing Director of Brighter Pictures in 2007. Most recently, David created and executive produced hit gameshow The Million Pound Drop Live (Channel 4), and was involved in the show's international roll out. He also co-created and executive produced daytime hit Pointless (BBC Two) , currently going into production on it's fifth series. Previous to this, David executive produced Seven Days On the Breadline (ITV1) and Divided (ITV1). David co-chairs the Digital Board at Endemol.
Prior to this role, David was Deputy Creative Director at Endemol UK, where he was involved in developing and selling shows including The Kids are All Right (BBC One), Golden Balls (ITV1) and Help! My Dogs As Fat As Me (BBC Three). Other shows he was involved in developing at this time include Teen Tycoons (Channel 4), Art School (BBC Two) and Fool Around With My Girlfriend (E4 /C4).
David first joined Endemol UK in 1999 as a 'Creative Intern'. After this scheme David continued in the newly created role of New Media Creative, developing and producing new cross platform formats. Promoted to Development Producer in 2002, David was involved in developing formats such as Shafted (ITV1), Trouble in Paradise (ITV1), and Missing You Already (Channel 4). David was a Broadcast magazine 'hotshot' in 2002.
